On arrival, I was seated straight away which is rare and did not happen last time, however a junior nearly always starts my appointment by washing my hair. I feel that if you are charging stylist prices, I should have a stylist for my whole appointment. The young lady that washed my hair made no conversation and had a poor technique when washing my hair which is afro. This is frustrating as I expect to go to a salon and get a better service than I would receive at home. I was then sat at a station at the back of the salon and left with no offer of magazines or the next step to my appointment. When the stylist that I booked to be attended by came over, I then asked if I could have a drink as I had not been offered one up to then. This was made for me, but again I was left under the steamer with nothing to occupy me for the 20 mins or so, so sat rather bored and unable to move. I feel that the stylist never offers any maintenance or style advice unless asked, offering no professional alternatives or suggestions to the way my hair is styled. I was just disappointed in general, which is a shame as my stylist is very warm and friendly. We always have a conversation and I am made to feel at ease when she takes over, however I find there to be a lack of insight or professional advice in regards to my hair.

Good hair cut but quite expensive even with student discount. Quick cut though. Felt like stylists looked down on me because I didn’t use the highest quality hair products and felt they weren’t the most friendly because I know very little about hair. Might use again, might not, will look around for best price.

The haircut itself felt quite rushed, my hairdresser didn’t do any double checking so it’s a bit uneven in places. She missed a couple bits totally that I had to cut myself after. The haircut itself is okay, it’s just been ruined a bit by how uneven some parts are! Would’ve been a good experience had my hairdresser done a double check & made sure it was all even

It was inconvenient that my scheduled appointment at 10:45 was not in the system, following my phone call booking two days prior. Instead I had to wait until 11:30 and was not given the stylist I booked to be with - Denim. As a result I didn't enjoy my experience as much, as the hairdresser I got instead was not as friendly. I was then overcharged for the senior stylist I was given instead of Denim and had to have this refunded and then pay again the right price. Now I will have to wait several days for my refund into my account. The receptionist I spoke to was extremely accommodating and handled the situation very well, however I am disappointed with my experience at Nicky Oliver, especially as I was so looking forward to returning.

I've read many great reviews before booking an appointment with the salon and unfortunately was expecting too much because of it, I suppose. The stylist was a beginner, which is ok, but I thought she lacked basic confidence in her knowledge and skill to advice me. I didn't initiate the conversation and thus we didn't speak a word. I was charged a full balayage price at the end too, even though I've booked in for the full head colour and cut. While I was advised by the senior stylist to lighten the hair to achieve an even colour, I thought it was a bit unexpected to charge 79 pounds for a balayage service when in reality it was bleaching the hair (9 foils where used and it did not require nowhere near the amount of effort, time or product as the standard balayage normally does). I would have appreciated more clear communication to make me feel like I am in the hands of professionals. I had a lovely interaction witht he staff that worked on a day of my colour patch test, so I will most likely come back, but will be booking in with a different hairdresser. The colour results are nice, the cut was mediocre though. No heat protection products were applied before the blowdry, nor it was styled in a pleasant way (e.g. by bangs were just left out, and I was given advice of being able to style them with a gair straigthener). I also have a fine hair, so normally in the past the stylist also puts some product to promote that volume look, but again, nothing like that was done. Overall, alright experience, but will try to find a place where I feel welcome and taken care of.

Very nice lady, and all the staff. First impressions count. Surprised to see the diffuser on the hairdryer was heavily wrapped in brown parcel tape to keep it on. Never saw that before. Very good effort to follow Covid guidance. Salon a little worse for wear. Friendly atmosphere. The final price I paid was actually £9 more expensive than the web site. Not too concerned about any good reasons. I don't appreciate it. I sort of feel it was top salon prices for a fairly ordinary but not unpleasant cut.
