The overall experience matched the price being charged, and I was pleased with the quality of my hair cut. The hair dresser listened to my requests and used her experience to help advise me. The customer service was quite good, staff were efficient, pleasant and polite although more attempts to be bubbly and chatty by other hairdressers with surrounding clients could have been improved. However, there was a severe lack of improving business, and staff did not take the opportunities to make further sales when they were presented. For example, I mentioned my regular hairdresser at another salon was a lot more expensive, although that was not the reason for my change of salon, therefore I was saving money coming to this one. I think this would have been a good opportunity to recommend products or services I could buy seeing as I clearly had extra money in my usual hairdressing budget to spend. As I left there was no attempt made to encourage me to return by booking me in for another appointment, although the staff did mention I could return to have my fringe trimmed for free or hair thinned in between cuts for £5 which was useful. The salon was clean and tidy, the decor was not to my taste and wasn’t as modern as I think it could be. It smelled of damp the moment I walked through the door, which isn’t the scent I want to be presented with as I walk though the door, I want it to smell clean and fresh. However I appreciate this was probably due to the old original wooden windows at the front of the building as they looked swollen with the winter whether and in need of treatment and repair. Overall I think it’s great value for money, and I was pleased with my experience. My only constructive criticism would be really make the most of every customer as there are a lot of ways of maximising sales without increasing prices.

Hi, Thank you so much for leaving us such an honest and thorough review of Saints. Customer care and retention is paramount so great reviews like this give us the opportunity to see the salon from another perspective and make changes where necessary. We're pleased you were happy with your hair cut and the service provided. We do always try to recommend products and additional services to clients where appropriate but don't like to push this on people so it can on occasion result in a missed opportunity. Many other salons have an aggressive sales policy but this is not something we like to do at Saints. From a business point of view, it isn't ideal however we would prefer for our customers to feel happy with the service they have received and not encouraged to possibly spend more than they wanted to. We shall certainly take this advice on board. With regards to the window and damp smell, unfortunately this is something we have been aware of for a short while and are currently liasing with our Landlord to have this rectified. The salon is within a Listed Building so sadly we are unable to have any ventilation or double glazed PVC windows fitted. This is most definitely a priority for us to have rectified. We have a refurbishment plan in place for 2019 so there will be some exciting changes happening within the salon with a more modern design, yet still comfortable and welcoming feel to it. As always, Emma did a superb job on my hair and I am happy with the service she provides every time I visit the salon. I also particularly enjoy the camaraderie between Emma and another stylist called Beth each time I visit! The only thing that affected the experience was the sheer number of flies that seemed to be buzzing around my head as my hair was being washed, so perhaps some insect-repellent spray would come in handy.
