Thank you for your valued feedback which I would like to have the opportunity of responding to. As part of our covid risk assessment we identified the risks to all our staff and clients and if we felt we were able to reduce this risk, we implemented it as part of our new routine. As we have both vulnerable staff and clients, we felt it was paramount to do everything in our power to make sure everything was clean and new for everyone as we are working up close and personal within the salon (which is very different than just entering a shop) and we would go above and beyond to make sure everyone was that extra bit safer. Therefore as many people wear masks that they just pull out of their bags and use multiple times in all the shops they go in without renewing or washing them, whilst we know this is a small risk of bringing covid into the salon, we felt that by providing a brand new mask to every single client, everyone sitting in the salon would be safer. The £1 PPE contribution is a small charge towards our covid-related costs but does not cover the whole charge of everything we need to purchase to make the visit as safe as possible. Whilst I agree you can purchase masks cheaply, we purchase our type 2 ones from reputable companies to ensure we give the best protection to all. Most other salons have a higher PPE/Covid charge or increased their costs to absorb this, which we did not do. I really hope this gives you the reasons for our £1 charge and also answers your points above.
