The staff and treatments are the best I have had. The atmosphere and treatment rooms are divine - it’s just the prices that are (in my opinion) too high. I would only use Rye Retreat as a special very occasional treat, as I can get a good beauty treatment more locally for a third of the price.

I always enjoy my experiences at Rye Retreat however yesterday was disappointing in comparison. My hair was washed in cool water and I had water run down my back and splashed on my face. I was booked in for a full head of colour. I explained to the stylist I wanted to go from brown to blonde and I wasn't given any indication of what to expect. The colour was put on my hair and too in excess of two hours just to put the colour on which surprised me and was not my normal experience. I felt by the time it came to drying my hair that I just wanted to go so left with a rough dry and not overalls relaxed. I must say this is the complete opposite to my regular experiences and can only imagine it was a bad day or trainee staff.

It was a good massage but I felt a little bit like everything was somewhat perfunctory and a little bit rushed. I know that these things are business transactions but I felt a bit like inwas just being processed rather than that she truly cared how I felt. My therapist also had a cough - totally not her fault of course but it did affect the quality of my experience when I was jolted out of my relaxed state by a cough several times.

It was a shame when I first entered the Spa area that a man was assembling some furniture so completely ruined the tranquil feeling I was so looking forward to! I think that job should not have been done when you had clients paying for their Spa experience! The treatment itself was brilliant but I could hear the drilling going on in my treatment room! Afterwards in the relaxation area was lovely and calm as your DIY man had gone into the garden area to some work. Just something to note for the future. I will come back despite this disappointing start to my visit!
